it's a long dream, i can't begin to relate it all, but the subplots all revolved around me being separated from my phone & my camera. some bitch stole them & i had to retrieve them by breaking into her car - then i had to go digging around her other stuff (somewhere) to find the case (the camera was out of its case! damn her!). i then had a backpack which i wore as a frontpack so i could keep track of the camera & the phone. weird other things were going on: (why are we being kicked out of the institution? why are we all working at some trashy thrift store version of home depot? why is dano wearing those headphones that aren't plugged into anything & singing in front of the boss? where is my website hosted? on the microwave in the breakroom? well that explains a lot.) but everywhere i went, no matter what, it was always about losing, & then subesquently finding, my cell phone & my camera.

so I had to go to oregon to take care of my parents - they told me they were paying fifty grand a year for long term care & i was all, no, i'll do it for less than that, but when i got there it turned out they didn't really have any money, that's just what it would have cost if they could have paid it. so they're now living in a rural area that is kind of a backwoods senior housing development, & the houses are all too small, with too much stuff in them - a lifetime's accumulation of stuff, packed into what space seniors can afford. so i have to get a job. it's going to be managing a restaurant - but first i have to learn the day to day operations, but as a waitress, i suck. i mean, i can't even get a potato in the microwave without it being all smashed up & mixed with chocolate cake.

last night
i have to get to work, i'm the new waitress where my daughter works. it's my second day, i was late yesterday & am already late again, i don't want to go, because i suck at the job. i know they need me to be there, it's a busy night. i can't find my car. i'm walking through bad neighborhoods in really uncomfortable shoes. some ghetto bitch wants to fight me, i'm not the least bit scared by those moves. my feet hurt, i am *not* in the mood for this. i kick her ass, now people seem to respect me. i'm still trying to find the damn car, i'm looking through these trashy apartements, then one of them burnt down (i didn't do it! i swear! ok, maybe i did, but c'mon, who cares?). i need to catch the bus to get to my car, & i just miss it. i'm trying to call in to say i can't make it, but all i get is this automated menu food delivery service, you know, press one for lunch, two for dinner, but i can't get through the maze of options to leave a message that i'm not coming in. some friends (from my day job) have a new place, i stop by there & they're mad because my feet are all grungy & they're in the middle of shampooing the rugs. i run into my daughter. she knows the real number to work but she won't tell me. i could call 411 but that costs money on this cell phone. we walk home. there is a skateboard or rollerblade shop, still open at this time of night, then suddenly the sidewalk cuts through a boutique! cool clothes, & i need shoes! i have no money! why didn't i go to work?
so first, the plane crashes into the ocean, but we're all ok. there's lots of paddling around in rafts, & lots of conflicts about where we're to go. there is a cast of characters, you'd think they were picked by the producers of survivor.
we land on a postapocalyptic island with a small, tyrranical government that does not allow alcohol at parties, & it's one long party there. there's a bar, but why? my daughter & her friends want me to buy them booze, we're thinking, something cheap - flavored wines or liquors, i believe ripple is mentioned. we have to wait for the king to go away, we've bribed or otherwise convinced one of his underlings to allow us to drink at the party. much drinking ensues.
outside, on the shore, there is a patio constructed out of stone. the ocean is full of huge rocks, towering, craggy & beautiful as the ocean surges around them. the sky turns the most beautiful color - i cannot describe this color, it is perhaps a an entirely new color, (related to the apocalypse?) & i must get a picutre of it with my digital camera. i am looking for something to climb up on so i can get a picture of the whole sky without all these people in the way. then abruptly the sky changes back to a more normal color, with a patch of brilliant yellow still around the setting sun, again, i can't get up high enough to get a clear picture. why didn't i just aim the camera straight up when the sky was that new color? now i'll never remember it.
there are bad guys (of course). we're in a parking garage that has some odd living quarters embedded in one of the top levels, but this is near the bottom level. chris has kurtwood in one of the cars, a station wagon. they are already out of the garage. i am going to drive the other car (?), but i have to get to it, i have to get past the bad guys.
i have my gun. it's a shiny, silver gun, it looks modern, i don't know what kind it is, or really how to shoot it, but i have to try. the bad guys are shooting at me? then there are cops. i think, i can't just drop it, what if it goes off. then the gun is out of my hand & the cops are frisking me (hey, this isn't bad!), asking me if i have any other weapons, i say no. i explain to them that i'm not supposed to have guns but ... you know, there are bad guys ... so they understand, they tell me they won't call it in, but i have to take the bullets out. i open up the cylinder that has the bullets in it & take them out & think, what if there's one in the chamber? this is a revolver, right? do revolvers have one in the chamber? is that how these things work? i don't know.
so i leave, with my gun, i've taken out all the bullets i can, but it's maybe not empty? i'm to follow chris home, even though i'm very, very tired to be driving. i have my gun, though. it's under the passenger seat.
so we're in this house on the hill, & there's a huge fire. the person's house, i think it's my sister-in-law but she has a new husband, there had been a plane crash on the hill before & he was the pilot. i can see the scars on the hills from the plane crash. the pilot had a horrible leg injury & i'm looking at pictures of the reconstruction process on the internet. i'm trying to tell people, nieces & nephews, about my website but they don't care. the firemen are taking a break on the lawn, smoking huge cigars that are burning all the way through. the flames are close by now, & there is a helicopter directly overhead, & i go outside & it shines its light directly down at me. i start thinking we should start packing our stuff - i'm looking at the tangled wires behind my computer & thinking i'll do that thing where i just unplug it from the wall & leave it all plugged into itself & move it all together, so i'll have time to get my favorite clothes. out on the lawn, my sister-in-law has given the firemen large glass pipes, i think they are smoking speed & i think, well, they need their energy, it's ok.
then i'm in my car, i'm not sure where i'm going, but things have changed, apparently in the rebuilding after the plane crash. i am trying to get on the freeway but i end up in this park & ride area, & almost drive off a bunch of badly graded ramps. i get out of my car, walk away, & hear a noise. i panic, realizing i'm out of my car, out in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, so i hurry back to the car, trying to put my shoes on as i go. i get back in the car, but to get out of the park & ride area i keep having to get out & almost carry the car down some of the embankments.
so anyway then i'm at this government agency type place - a post office? a jail? i may be trying to get help for the fire. you can smoke there but i don't have any cigarettes. i'm trying to figure out where i'll get money for some smokes. i'm carrying one of the firemen's glass pipes in a paper sack & i drop it & i'm thinking, uh-oh, how am i going to tell him i broke his favorite pipe. i leave the building through these electronic surveillance type turnstyles & think, glad it didn't know i was carrying that pipe.
i have friends who travel to other dimensions. they can either mist themselves with this pump spray full of a dimension solution, & relax, & they will be transported. alternatively, there is this tiny tiny airplane, which they can get in & as it takes off, they pass through. the airplane will pass through matter, which appears to fragment, but then you can watch it rearrange itself. i tell people & they don't believe me but then it happens right before their eyes & they still barely believe.
then an airplane explodes over Scottsdale, AZ, & a nuclear bomb detonates in the air. my friends from the other dimension know about this before it comes on the news, so i'm trying to get through because i know there is more infomation. i spray myself with the solution (hardly any left) & try to relax, i can feel myself almost slipping into the other dimension, but i'm too tense.
the sky goes misty white, & it begins to rain. i ask how much radiation is in the rain & someone says, 18 joules, & i'm trying desperately to remember how many joules translate to how many rads or visa-versa & how much we can tolerate. we are on a beach boardwalk, & one of the people i'm with says, hey, watch this, & flips a switch that causes a square patch of the boardwalk beneath our feet to go down like an elevator. confused, i step off, & it descends rapidly. i know i have to get down there because it's his bomb shelter, so i jump in, it's a couple stories down but i float down without injury. at the bottom there is a hallway into a couple of little subterranean rooms. oddly enough, there's a window, but of course it looks out on solid earth.
